Plowed

Yesterday afternoon the entire family was outside playing in the slush when were pleasantly surprised by the loud sound of SNOWPLOWS!!  It had been 10 days that we were more or less homebound due to the incredible amount of snow and lack of plowing/salting.  When the snowplows showed up yesterday, it was as if I had been stranded on an island and I was seeing the rescue boats.  I literally got choked up thanking the snowplow driver.  After they came through and cleared out street, I went to the grocery.  I have never been so excited to get into my car and drive to the store.  The freedom to hop in the car…not something to be taken for granted.  Although I really enjoyed the beauty of the white Christmas, I couldn’t help but feel periodically trapped.  We only have gotten mail 3 days this entire time, and many of our packages (including some Santa gifts) still have not arrived.  Luckily, the hula hoops I bought were a huge hit.  The girls didn’t even notice that they were missing most of their Santa gifts.  God bless them…they haven’t acted slighted at all.
Bitsy, Zack and Ben are coming tomorrow for a couple of days to celebrate a late Christmas with us.  This is really a blessing — Ben spent Christmas in the hospital with a return of gastroparesis, and Bits and Andy missed their trip to Connecticut due to the crazy snowstorms.  We’ll put up some more pictures soon.  Maybe some hula hooping video clips too…

I’m so glad that you’ve been plowed! Wow – that was a long time to be snowed in!! We didn’t even have a white Christmas here in Cleveland :( I think it’s so sweet that your kids were so content with the minimalist Christmas they had. I’ll look forward to those hula hooping videos!! Happy New Year!
